Executive Womens Golf Association
The Executive Womens Golf Association is a non-profit corporation which aims to provide more options for women to learn and play the game of golf both as a recreation and in business. Since 1991, this Florida-based organization has developed over 120 chapters in the U.S., Canada and France. Currently there are over 19,000 members. At present there are only two chapters in Canada; one in Toronto, the other in Waterloo, Ontario. Hopefully, there will be more in the future. The organization makes a diligent effort to provide a constructive framework for the golf industry to encourage increased participation by women in golf activities. They appear, from their website and literature to be very well organized, well-funded and well managed. I think the industry would be very well advised to pay close attention to their voice on women's issues as it relates to the sport of golf. The objective of the Executive Womens Golf Association is to promote the growth of women's golf by encouraging a spirit of inclusiveness and diversity in its membership. The membership includes a network of golf clubs, ranges, schools, resorts and related retail facilities through which the association offers: - discounts at participating golf courses
- instructional clinics
- participation in EWGA sponsored events and golf tournaments
- discounts by participating retailers for a wide range of merchandise, travel, car rental, and other services.
- an annual EWGA Conference
EWGA Golf Club Network The Executive Womens Golf Association actively recruits golf clubs, practice facilities and schools to provide a women friendly environment to learn and play golf. They post an application form that, for a $75 annual fee, a facility can become a member of the EWGA golf club network and attain a 'Women Friendly Facility' designation if they meet preset criteria. The criteria are specific and rigorously investigated and inspected. Standards which applicants must meet include: - minimum 10% discount on Greens Fees, Driving Range and Instruction
- two sets of rated tees for women's play
- distance markers are available inside 100 yards
- equal services are provided for men and women
- facilities are relatively equal for both men and women (e.g., women are not barred from any area of the facility with the exception of a men's locker room).
EWGA Network Agreement Once they qualify and their application is accepted, network facilities must live up to a performance contract signed by both parties. Complaints by members against member facilities are investigated. Network Conditions for member facilities: - One year fee of $75
