Black Bear Ridge Golf Course

Black Bear Ridge Golf Course is located in Belleville, ON right beside Trillium Wood GC.

This is not a course that I played during the Tour. It's reputation drew me to check it out. The guys I played with at Trillium Wood said, as good as their course was, many members and players at Trillium went over to Black Bear Ridge(BBR) to practice. Black Bear's facilities are that good.

Trillium had, from what I could see, very nice practice areas of its own. So, the praise extended to BBR made it a must-see for me.

I paid a visit to Black Bear the day after playing at Trillium Wood. I was on my way into Toronto which was just a few hours away, so I stopped by to see what Black Bear was like.

Golf Instruction

Black Bear Ridge has added Cathy Sherk as Head Teaching Professional. Ms. Sherk is one of Canada's most accomplished golfers -- both as a player and as a teacher.

With a second range nearly complete, the Golf Academy at Black Bear Ridge will provide a premiere teaching facility for Ontario golfers. Its location provides an attractive stay and play or stay and learn option for potential golf school candidates. If I were looking for a golf school in Southern Ontario, this place would be top of the list. The short game facility and level of agronomy at the practice areas and course was equal to anything I have seen in Canada. Superb conditioning of greens, tee areas and the course was very apparent. They were recognized by Score Magazine as 5th in conditioning in Canada.

A very impressive facility. Highly recommended for play and highest of all for practice.
